Jesus gave gifts to His people, the church, in order to prepare them for the ministry He calling each one of them to. Every child of God is called to be a minister and we gather together that those gifted with a special office would use their individual gifts to prepare others for the experience of an intimate relationship with Him and to be a vessel in which He lives through to express His love and life to others. True Christian maturity isn't something that comes with years but from a truly responsive personal relationship with His indwelling presence.
