The life of the fool and the upright are in complete contrast. Mankind can justify any of their actions and feel good about it but it leads to death. The upright rejoice in the work of the Lord and discern His way. In the end there are just two paths, 1 is to follow the Lord as our King, 2 is to follow our hearts desire without regard to God. You either love God and His Son as a beloved child or you love self and the path of Satan.

We who were born gentiles didn't have access to the covenant, neither were we citizens of Israel. All of that changes when Christ comes with His perfect sacrifice and the shedding of blood. When we entrust ourselves to Him and His perfect sacrifice we become the children of Abraham and the Israel of God by grace through faith. He no longer requires a circumcision done by the hands of men but He Himself gives us a circumcision of the heart. While we were once far off and separated from God we are now drawn close by His blood. There is no more separation for we are in union with Him.

Salvation is a gift of God that we receive by grace through faith. The bad news is we were all children of wrath because of our disobedience. The Good News is that God is rich in mercy because of His great love for us. Satan was not satisfied with Job losing all of his material goods now he seeks his health. God permits him to afflict Job but not to take his life. When the child with Bathsheba was born it was afflicted by God. David laid down on the grown and cried before the Lord for a week. He and Bathsheba have another child named Solomon who would be the next king and he is beloved God so God sent Nathan to him to give him the name Jedidiah, meaning "beloved."

In this passage Job is accused of not fearing the Lord and yet God had declared to Satan that Job was one who feared the Lord and turned from evil. There is a lesson for us to learn, that we don't need to defend ourselves when we rest in our righteousness in Christ. We also need to remember that it isn't our responsibility to set everyone straight in trying to explain their suffering. We become miserable comforters when we try to define others sufferings and judging others. We are called to see our own suffering as tool to comfort others.

We who have entrusted our lives to Christ are completely forgiven but there still remain consequences for our sins. What God prohibits He does so for our good and when we violate God's will we remain forgiven but we still suffer the consequences. There are no secrets with God.

You might think there are limits to His grace but Paul reminds us that He is rich in grace and delights to lavish it on us. This is what it is to be a beloved son.

Bildad makes his final argument against Job. His position is that no one can be righteous before God. He has a very low anthropology in that man is just a worm and so Job's insisting to hold onto his integrity is an affront to God. Job also gives a final defense. He feels abandoned by God and his friends but maintains he will go to the grave holding onto his integrity. They all seemed to miss the point thinking that there was a direct correlation between the good we do and bring righteous and the bad we do resulting in disaster and calamity. The totally missed the abundant mercy and grace we all need every day.

In the spring when kings went to battle against their enemies David stayed home. He may have become overconfident in all of his successes. While home he saw from a woman taking a bath and she was beautiful. He realizes that she is the wife of one of his faithful soldiers but that doesn't keep him from sleeping with her and then she gets pregnant. He tries to cover his sin but Uriah was more honorable than David. David has Uriah set up to be killed. After the time of mourning David takes Bathsheba to be another on of his wives. Sin covered up will soon be uncovered and the consequences are horrible. We are all tempted by various things but God always gives us a way of dealing with the temptation.
