"Estranged From Christ" Galatians 5:2-5

Paul is emphatic that the Old and New Covenants are distinct and can not be mixed. To go back to the Law and circumcision was to not only misuse the Law but would rob people of the freedom Jesus secured for them through His perfect, one time sacrifice on the cross. To go back to circumcision for righteousness was to miss the full meaning for the circumcision of the heart done by God alone. To seek justification through self-effort is to make the Spirit inoperative. The believer is not a lawless person at all they live by a law not written on stone but that which the Spirit writes on the heart. It is all an outgrowth of living life in a responsive relationship with His indwelling presence.
