"I'm Crucified with Christ" Galatians 2:20-21

Paul is emphasizing the authentic Gospel is to focus on the finished work of the cross. The Law could not make us righteous. All it could do is show us our sinfulness. We have to die to the Law so we can live unto Christ. It isn't something we make happen but something that happens to us when we receive Christ. To be born-again, to be in Christ is to be completely united to Him. So that, when He was crucified we too were crucified, when He was buried we were with Him and when He rose again we too rose again. His death for us brought us forgiveness but it was only through our union with Him in the resurrection that we received eternal life. We are not called to strive through self-effort but to allow Him who died for us and as us, so He could live in us, to freely live His life through us. No one can live the Christian life but Jesus who is the Christ. All of our attempts to live for God will leave us weary and full of failure. When we live from Him and allow Him to live through us we experience transformation and peace.
