"The Death of Uzzah" 2 Samuel 6:1-9

David desired to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. He didn't consult with the Lord about doing it or how to do it. He gathered his 30,000 men and they went down rejoice before the Lord as they put the Ark on a new cart. When one of the oxen stumbled Uzzah put his hand on the Ark and died by the hand of the Lord. It might be difficult to understand why Uzzah was killed while trying to do a good thing. This event reminds us that the holiness of God is not a trivial manner. No sinner could touch the presence of God and live. The Ark didn't belong on any cart but was to be carried by the Levites. As New Covenant disciples we should be keenly aware that the same Holy God lives in us and goes everywhere with us. We come to our Abba but should never lose our reverence for who He is as God.
