"A Bridegroom of Blood" Exodus 4:18-31

Moses begins his journey down to Egypt with his family given the assurance that all those who sought to kill him were already dead. While on the way the Lord God stops him because he had failed to circumcise his sons. His wife is quite upset because she has nothing like circumcision in her culture. She circumcises them and calls Moses a bridegroom of blood. Circumcision was an absolute necessity to be a part of the covenant. Jesus is our Bridegroom of Blood because it was the shedding of His blood that brings us into a better covenant. He gives us a circumcision not of the flesh but of the heart. At the end of the chapter Moses meets his brother Aaron and the elders of the people believe he is sent from God and they worshipped.
