Jonah receives the word of the Lord for the people of Nineveh the second time and goes into the city proclaiming destruction to come in 40 days and the people called out mightily to God in repentance and God showed them great mercy. We must never forget that God calls each of us to be vessels through whom He makes His appeal to the world. He frequently calls us to proclaim His message of love and life to our enemies and those we despise.
