The Lord rebukes Israel for their idolatry and calls them to remember what had brought them to this place of peril and captivity. Despite all of their rebellion He was going to accomplish all of His purposes and fulfill all of His promises. The promises of God are our security not because we are always faithful but because He is always faithful. We don't understand His timing or His working as we live in an evil world but we have the confident assurance that what He has purposed He will do!
