While God had wanted to destroy Israel because of their idolatry Moses interceded for them. When he arrived at the camp and saw the idol he broke the two tablets of stone written by God took the idol melted the gold, put it in water and made them drink it. We think of anger as sin and it can be sin but there is also a righteous anger. The anger of the Lord is righteous and an expression of His love. There were times when Jesus became angry but it was also in complete harmony with His love. There are things in the life of God's children that should stir up anger but always in righteousness. How we live in the world matters and when the children of God act in a manner that is in conflict with nature of God it gives the unbelieving world an opportunity to blaspheme God. This should stir up righteous anger that leads to repentance and transformation.
