"Love the Lord Your God" Deuteronomy 6:4-9

The greatest of the commandments was to love the Lord with all of their being. God had demonstrated His love for Israel in bringing them out of slavery. He further demonstrated His everlasting love in providing for them in spite of their frequent rebellions. As they prepare to enter the Promised Land Moses reminds them that they belong to God and He is deserving of their faithful love. They must not allow themselves to be distracted from the Lord their God. He is to be their preoccupation and they have a responsibility to teach this to each generation.
