2 Samuel 1:1-16 David and the Amalekite

David receives news of King Saul and Jonathan's death from an Amalekite who came to him with Saul's crown. He admits to taking the life of Saul at Saul's request and was most likely expecting a reward but he was put to death for taking the life of the Lord's anointed. It's never right for us to take matters into our own hands. David and his people mourn the loss of Saul and Jonathan.
